The Data Management Institute is a membership driven organization. That means DMI will fund the bulk of its ongoing activities, including research and publishing, training and certification program development, summits and conferences, product testing, and other community-building activities, through annual membership fees and separate product sales. It is the goal of the organization to remain completely vendor neutral and to provide our members with objective insights and guidance on their technology options.

However, as part of the initial kick-off of the community, DMI has developed a Charter Member Program that enables a few sponsors from the vendor community to fund a limited number of free one year charter memberships for select applicants.
